Today has been a day of highs and lows.
The high was a lovely cuddle from Merry this morning. He climbed onto my lap, nuzzled his head into the nook of my arm, and purred himself to sleep.
The lows were Sam's refusal to eat, which is still a great worry for The Boy and myself. And, of course, his nervous demeanour.
It's difficult getting used to a nervous cat. As an animal lover it feels wrong that an animal should be frightened of you :-( And when he's sitting on top of the kitchen cabinet looking down at you as though you're about to eat him, you feel like a total failure.
On the other hand we realise that Sam is 1/4 asian leopard cat, so his natural instincts are probably very strong. Again, patience is the key. Patience, patience, patience.
NEWS FLASH: We just caught Sam watching TV. It was the CUTEST thing. I got a quick picture, but it doesn't capture just how intently he was watching the programme. Hehe. Hurray for Sam. (Something tells me that when Sam finally comes out of his shell, he's going to be causing all the trouble.)
We got the vac out today after doing a bit of DIY and when I peered in the conservatory, Merry and Sam were sitting there, wide eyed. I gave them a cat treat for being so good, and it seemed to inspire Sam. After that, we were able to coax Sam to eat some dried biscuits. It seems like he's really hungry, but is too anxious to eat. Merry on the other hand eats like there's no tomorrow.
